Is Your Business Showing Up in AI Search?
You’ve probably heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). But there’s a newer term starting to shape the future of online visibility: AEO — Answer Engine Optimization.
Here’s why it matters.
More and more people are skipping traditional Google searches and going straight to AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews to get quick answers. Instead of scrolling through a list of websites, users simply ask a question and the AI provides a direct recommendation or explanation.
For businesses, that changes the game. If your company isn’t structured to be the answer the AI provides, your business may never appear in front of that customer.
So what does AEO actually mean for your business?
First, your website content needs to clearly answer the questions your customers are asking. AI tools prioritize information that is direct, helpful, and easy to understand. Pages that explain services clearly, answer common questions, and provide helpful details are much more likely to be referenced.
Second, FAQs, detailed service pages, and location-specific content are becoming increasingly important. When AI systems see content that directly addresses things like “best HVAC repair in Ocala” or “how often should I service my AC in Florida,” they’re more likely to pull from those pages.
Third, reviews and consistent business information across the web help AI systems determine trust. The more consistent and credible your online presence appears, the more confidence these systems have in recommending your business.
The good news? If your SEO has been done properly, you’re already ahead of many competitors. AEO isn’t replacing SEO — it’s the next layer of it. And it’s something we’re already building into our strategies for clients so their businesses stay visible as search continues to evolve.
